We’re delighted to announce that 12 local community groups from across the Western Downs and Banana Shire local government areas have received funding through the latest round of Powerlink’s community grants.

These grants are designed to uplift groups and communities by supporting initiatives worth up to $5,000 that foster resilience, safety, well-being and economic growth.

Some of the successful recipients of our third round of grants include:

• Wandoan Show Society – purchasing an industrial ice machine for the showgrounds
• Chinchilla Community Commerce and Industry Inc. – funding for a community late night shopping event to showcase local retailers
• Dalby RSL sub-branch – supporting digital skills for the Veterans and Families program
• Dalby Day Nursery and Preschool Association – purchasing washer/dryer combo for the Stuart Street Kindergarten
• Banana & District Community Assoc. Inc. – building a history shed to display photos and artefacts
• Barfield Road Producer Group – funding a website to improve communication, connection and knowledge sharing in the Banana Shire agricultural community
